It has to be the ...I used the Wilton Round XL tip. It has to be the REALLY big hole. Also, when I piped, I made sure the icing was a little more stiff than usual (by adding less milk) and I made sure that I pulled the tip up away from the cupcake as I was frosting around the cupcake, each layer ontop of the next. It helps with the wider tip, covers more of the cupcake on that base level.
