Menu Plan Monday - November 22 - 27

>> Monday, November 22, 2010

It's been a long time since I've done a Menu Plan Monday post.  I don't know if anyone really finds these helpful or not.  Feel free to let me know if you like them, look forward to them or could really care less. ;)

I also want to tell all my friends & family in the US - Happy Thanksgiving! If you haven't planned your menu yet for the holiday; get to it! You'll need to get your turkey fresh if you wait much longer. And speaking of turkey don't forget to put it in the fridge to thaw if you already purchased yours.

Hope you all have a great week, enjoy your family and use up those leftovers!

Please note - I use organic, local ingredients when possible. Also the recipes usually call for all- purpose flour. I usually use a mix of 1/2 whole wheat & 1/2 white or just all whole wheat. Remember a recipe is just something to go by, feel free to change them up for health/your family's tastes.

Menu Plan Monday - Sept. 5 - 11

>> Monday, September 6, 2010

I'm back to doing a very detailed menu. It takes forever to make up these menus (seriously, close to 3 hours this week) but having it all planned out really helps. It helps when it's meal time because I'm not standing there wondering what to make & it helps at the grocery store - no impulse buying.

The big kids will be getting Bento style lunches again this year. My plan is to take pictures daily & I will do a post at the end of the week highlighting all of the lunches.

I'm also going to try getting back to posting my recipes more frequently. So if there is something on the menu you are curious about, please check back a day or two after it is scheduled to see if the link is up.

And now for the menu!

Menu Plan Monday - August 22 - 27

>> Monday, August 23, 2010

I can not believe this is the last full week of summer vacation for us. I am one of those strange parents that actually dreads the start of school. If I had it in me to homeschool I would, but I don't really think that would end up too great. lol The kids would be thrilled - they've each already asked at least twice "can't you homeschool us this year?" Oh my little lovies I wish!! Anyhow I'm taking the majority of this week off work to spend with the kids. Just thought it would be nice for them not to have to wake up super early and spend all day at the shop this week. So I'm going to be busy soaking up a lot of time with them. Luckily I have my meal plan all ready to go, so I won't have to waste a minute wondering what to make for supper each day.

*Please note - I use organic, local ingredients when possible (including meat & eggs). Also the recipes usually call for all- purpose flour. I usually use a mix of 1/2 whole wheat & 1/2 white or just all whole wheat. Remember a recipe is just something to go by, feel free to change them up for health/your family's tastes.*

Supper:
  • Sunday - Ground Beef Enchiladas, Mexican Rice, Salad
  • Monday - Asian Baked Pork Chops, Butter and Garlic Potatoes, Roasted Green Beans
  • Tuesday -  Honey Soy Baked Chicken, Coconut Rice, Steamed Sugar Snap Peas
  • Wednesday - Baked Ham, Potato Salad, Corn on the Cob, Sliced Tomatoes and Cucumbers
  • Thursday - Ham and Noodle Casserole, Steamed fresh broccoli and cauliflower
  • Friday -  Pepperoni Bread, Tossed Salad

Menu Plan Monday - August 14 - 20

>> Monday, August 16, 2010

Another week another menu plan. Now that I am working, I am so thankful that I have this habit of making a weekly menu plan. Even though last week I ended up taking most of the week off work, it was nice to have the menu planned and not have that added stress factor to an already stressful week. It was also nice to be able to start some of the supper prep at work - that's a really nice benefit of owning our own business with a full kitchen. I will probably do the same again a couple of times this week too.

Supper:
  • Saturday - Ham & Cheese Quiche, Steamed Veggies {didn't have last week}.
  • Sunday - Grilled steaks, grilled corn on the cob, grilled zucchini, sliced cucumbers & watermelon
  • Monday - Kielbasa and Perogies, skillet zucchini
  • Tuesday -  Grilled pork chops, potato salad, sliced tomatoes & cucumbers
  • Wednesday - Roasted chicken pieces, brown rice & fresh green beans
  • Thursday - Grilled hamburgers, oven fries and tossed salad
  • Friday -  Sloppy Joe Pizza & Tossed Salad {didn't have last week}

Menu Plan Monday - August 7 - 13

>> Monday, August 9, 2010

Last week's menu went over with flying colours. Everyone loved everything and I did 98% of the cooking for the week last Saturday. That really helped us be able to come home from work and get supper on the table in 30 minutes and still had time to relax. This week's menu, I have most everything meat wise pre-cooked and in the freezer. I'm going to take the ham to work and cook it there *the bonuses of owning your own business :)* I am hoping this week goes as well as it did last week.

Supper:
  • Saturday - Kids and Hubby went to the lake for bbq with inlaws.
  • Sunday - Roast Chicken, Rice, and steamed vegetables
  • Monday - Sliced Ham, Potato Salad, Rolls & Roasted Veggies
  • Tuesday -  Baked Ziti, Garlic Bread & Tossed Salad
  • Wednesday - Ham & Cheese Quiche, Steamed Veggies
  • Thursday - Grilled Sausages, Perogies and Grilled Veggies
  • Friday -  Sloppy Joe Pizza & Tossed Salad

Menu Plan Monday - August 1 - 6

>> Monday, August 2, 2010

Can you believe it is August?? Where has the time gone? I was looking back and I see that my last Menu Plan Monday post was back in May. That's just unbelievable to me! I know I got really busy trying to get organized for summer vacation, then the kids were out of school and and well, life has just been busy. Sometimes that's just the way it is and family time comes before blogging time, which I'm sure you understand.

One major change has been I am working full time now. Just entered into my second week of that. My husband and I own our own computer store now. It's been a big adjustment but we're all gradually settling into our new roles. And I want to be sure I have a menu plan now more than ever. I learned last week it is essential if we are going to eat healthy. I spent Saturday morning prepping and cooking this week's suppers so that we can come home and hopefully have supper on the table within 30-40 minutes. Anyhow, here is this week's menu:

*Please note - I use organic, local ingredients when possible (including meat & eggs). Also the recipes usually call for all- purpose flour. I usually use a mix of 1/2 whole wheat & 1/2 white or just all whole wheat. Remember a recipe is just something to go by, feel free to change them up for health/your family's tastes.*

Supper:
  • Saturday - Went to a BBQ at the lake
  • Sunday - Chicken Tetrazzini, Garlic rolls & Salad
  • Monday - Grilled Burgers, Oven Fries & Salad
  • Tuesday -  French Toast, Turkey Bacon & Fresh Fruit
  • Wednesday - Chicken Fried Rice & Spinach Salad
  • Thursday - Taco Pie & Salad
  • Friday -  Calzones & Salad

Menu Plan Monday - May 3 - 7

>> Monday, May 3, 2010

I can't believe it is May already! April sure seemed to fly by. Only 2 more months until summer vacation. :)
So a few new things with the menu - I'm now eating a full vegetarian diet.  The raw vegan eating really works best for my body but the expense financially is huge.  Maybe if my garden grows I can go back to raw vegan for the summer but for now I'm happy eating vegetarian. Also I have started (this week) making all 3 kids the same lunches in bento box style. I'm thinking end of the week or weekend doing a post with pictures and what's in each box to help others that need lunch ideas for their kids.

So that's all my goings on.  Here's this week's menu:

*Please note - I use organic, local ingredients when possible (including meat & eggs). Also the recipes usually call for all- purpose flour. I usually use a mix of 1/2 whole wheat & 1/2 white or just all whole wheat. Remember a recipe is just something to go by, feel free to change them up for health/your family's tastes.*

Menu Plan Monday April 11 - 16

Good morning everyone! I hope that you had a great weekend. I did! We went to the farmer's market for the first time since last fall. It was still indoors but it was really fun and great seeing all the organic, local products and produce available. I truly love my local communities - such talented and smart people surround me. :) I spent some time in the kitchen baking. I made Giant Oatmeal Confetti cookies and Homemade Pizza Pockets (recipes coming soon) for the kids snacks & lunches. And I tried and experimental Cinnamon roll cookie - that recipe will need some work before I can share it.  Also got some important jobs done and some house tidying.  And of course some relaxing and fun with the family - all & all it was a lovely weekend. I am blessed.

Menu Plan Monday - March 21 - 26

How was your week last week?  We had a fabulous March Break.  The kids I think had a great time. It was Miss. Bean's birthday, St. Paddy's Day, we went to the movies, played outdoors - had the best weather over a March Break that I can ever remember, and spent some time with great friends all through the week.

Now this week, we're back to school and routines. That week vacation sure made me (and the kids) anxious for summer break. Also this week we will be celebrating Little E's 2nd birthday!  How is it possible my little baby is going to be 2 already? I swear it seems like he was just born a couple months ago.  Although, the temper tantrums are a quick reminder that he wasn't. ;)

Menu Plan Monday - January 23 - 29

>> Monday, January 25, 2010

I'm back for another week of menu planning. I think this is the first time in awhile I haven't missed a week all month. Yay me! lol  So last week...last week was not a good food week for me.  I'm not sure what happened but I went way off with my menus.  Didn't eat as much raw food as I had planned, I did have some & regardless of it all, it was still healthier than I was eating before the holidays.  This week I want to do better though.  I am so sick of this roller coaster - one week good, the next not so much. Maybe I should spend some time figuring out why I do this?  One thing I am pretty sure of is that I am gluten sensitive.  I made bread twice last week and ate some of it.  I really suffered with a horrible stomach ache for a couple days after. I need to spend some time considering this, for sure.  I had planned to work on going gluten free but I was going to wait until I was really in a groove with my current plan.  Now I am not so sure.  I found a ning group last week that worked on transition to a raw diet. I think I need spend some time there, learning and asking questions. I must be missing some key ingredient or something.

I've also decided to change my "detox" day to Wednesday.  This will allow me a couple more days of meat-free suppers.  I'm trying to include two meat free meals for the whole family a week. If I can do a meal or two of raw foods at supper on opposite days that will be even better for me.

Anyhow on to this week's menu!
